Friends of JCDS, Inc is a local non-profit that provides affordable and accessible housing, assistance with basic needs and other support programs for adults with disabilities in Johnson County. We focus on helping individuals who receive services from Johnson County Developmental Supports.

Our Story

Friends were founded in 1990 by a group of concerned and engaged parents and stakeholders. In 1997 we opened our first home. And from there we’ve just kept pushing forward, more people helped, more homes, and more programs for adults with disabilities in Johnson County, KS. We now have 19 completed homes and three in progress, all renovated to be accessible and remain affordable. Through our partnerships and work, we touch the lives of over 450 individuals every year.

Where do donations go?

When you give to Friends of JCDS, Inc you are helping to build a community that embraces diversity and integration. Funds raised provide Friends with resources to continue to improve homes for individuals served, provide access to needed medical services, basic needs and community programs for adults with disabilities in Johnson County.

How do I receive services from
Friends of JCDS?

Friends of JCDS, Inc partners with Johnson County Developmental Supports to fulfill its mission. Johnson County Developmental Supports staff provides residential supports in homes owned by Friends, and special assistances requests can be made by anyone receiving any direct services from Johnson County Developmental Supports.
